Umauma Bridge

Project Description

The Umauma Bridge, was originally constructed in 1911 to support railroad tracks over Umauma Stream. Hawaiian Dredging was selected to perform a full rehabilitation of the 100-year-old bridge. Perched 100 feet above the Umauma Stream, the rehabilitation involved construction of concrete towers to be placed within the existing steel support structures, widening and replacement of the bridge deck and roadway shoulders, and new concrete railings. The project exemplified the high-level coordination between contractors, agencies, and the public to ensure that all elements of this highly complex project came together as planned.
