Kokua Hale
Located in downtown Honolulu, Kokua Hale, a new 20-story mid-rise complex, features 222 affordable units for those 55 and older. The project sits on a compact lot, surrounded by existing buildings and high-traffic streets. Hawaiian Dredging used building information modeling software with artificial intelligence algorithms to schedule and plan the project. The software was beneficial in decision-making for the safe and efficient construction of the structure and exterior façade close to adjacent buildings and busy streets. This project includes the 128,775-sf residential building plus 43,477-sf of parking. A central lobby, public spaces, parking, and back-of-house areas are on levels one through five. Podium level six features an outer deck with shaded seating, landscaping, and community planter boxes where residents can grow flowers and vegetables. Levels six through twenty have residential units with community areas for residents.
