Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, Inc. (HDCC) successfully constructed the Wailuku Civic Center (WCC) Phase 1B for the County of Maui, a crucial part of the Wailuku Redevelopment Plan. The project is a four-story 151,130 sf cast-in-place concrete parking facility with 390 stalls. As the project began, HDCC discovered the first of four Hawaiian Burials. Consequently, HDCC was required to perform only controlled excavations on the project site, resulting in an archeological type of digging operation. HDCC respected the importance of each burial site and worked with Maui County to ensure that internments remained in place and that a Hawaiian priest would conduct the culturally appropriate funeral rites.
